Red Hat® EX188: Level Up Learning Club Session 1: 10/8/25

Background on the Level Up Learning Club for Red Hat: https://levelupla.io/announcing-the-level-up-learning-club-red-hat/

Today’s RHLS Module(s): Preface A: Introduction

Today’s focus: the Learning Club approach and how Red Hat frames containerization, before we start diving into the OpenShift ecosystem in upcoming sessions.

What we walked through:

  • EX188 is built on RHEL 9, Podman 5, and OpenShift 4.18. This is the same basic stack used across ROSA, ARO, and self-managed.
  • The goal of the exam is pretty straightforward: build and manage containers for Kubernetes and OpenShift deployments.
  • The lab environment mirrors production where it should, a total of six VMs and it’s easy to spin up. The jump off point for us is workstation.
  • The lab start / lab finish commands formalize treating every exercise like a stand up/tear down deployment lifecycle.

Key takeaway:
Before we even launch our first pod, we’re already seeing the strategy that makes Red Hat’s enterprise Kubernetes ecosystem so durable: reproducibility, isolation, and trust.

Next session: Intro to Podman containers.
